Soft and hard pastels are skillfully applied to create a dark green and thickly wooded forest grove within a deep gorge through which water rushes over and around large boulders and fallen trees. It’s a turbulent landscape scene marked only by patches of blue in the sky and lighter greens where the sun shines.
