Oil pastels deliver the rich and varied hues of the painted surfaces of these orange, blue, red and yellow boats. The boats cast their own black shadows, which highlight them as they jostle against one another in the water. The overhead view gives us the perspective of being up on a high wharf looking down on them as they float about on a deep blue ocean filled with green seaweed and flashes of sunlight.
