The cold gray ice and snow of a salt marsh melt under the rising sun. The slow process of spring is perfectly conveyed by the dark shadows behind snow and ice and bits of yellowed stalks of reeds and grasses. Pinks, yellows and blues of the brightening sky are reflected in the watery landscape. It looks rather cool and one can almost feel the biting chill off the ground and in the air.
