This homage to artist Emile Bernard is a lovely portrait of a woman and her beloved feline pet cat, who compete for the warming light of the red lamp above them. Both seen determined not to give way one to the other. The black outlines of the forms and the bold blocks of color anchor and solidify both the conflict and the figures themselves. Neither one is budging from the spotlight.
